Congressman Roscoe Bartlett Urges FERC to Carefully Consider Constituent Inputs About the Middletown Compressor Station

Wrote Letter to FERC Commissioners

Washington, Feb 22 -

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett wrote commissioners of the Federal Energy Regulator Commission (FERC) on February 20, 2008 concerning a proposed 14,000 hp compressor station for an existing natural gas pipeline near Middletown, Maryland. The FERC is the federal regulatory agency authorized and required to conduct an environmental assessment to determine if proposed projects affecting interstate natural gas pipelines are in the “public convenience and necessity.” In the letter, Rep. Bartlett asked a number of questions and urged “careful consideration of other questions and issues raised by 300 residents in the Middletown area at a February 6, 2008 Public Scoping Meeting at Middletown High School and other inputs filed in writing with the Commission.”
