Washington, Jun 14, 2006 -

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-6-MD) secured $750,000 in funding for projects in Point of Rocks, Frederick and Westernport, Maryland in H.R. 5576, the bill that would provide federal funding during Fiscal Year 2007 for operations of the Departments of Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, and Judiciary as well as the District of Columbia. The House approved the bill with an overwhelming bipartisan majority of 406-22.

Congressman Bartlett secured $450,000 for the preservation and restoration of the Catoctine Aqueduct in the C&O Canal National Historic Park in Point of Rocks, Maryland.

Congressman Bartlett secured $250,000 to accelerate progress on the I-70/MD85/MD355 Interchange portion of the missing link interchange project in Frederick, Maryland.

Congressman Bartlett secured $50,000 for renovations of the Westernport Heritage Society Museum in Westernport, Maryland.

“The federal funding I was able to secure for these projects provides a return to taxpayers in the Sixth District of the money they send to Washington,” said Congressman Bartlett. “The federal government has been entrusted to preserve the C&O Canal National Historic Park as a resource for current and future generations. Accelerating the completion of the missing links between interstates I-70 and I-270 in the job center of Frederick, Maryland is one of the highest priorities for federal funding by the State of Maryland. Heritage tourism is growing and preserving Western Maryland’s railroad history is one of the features that attract day trip and even international visitors to travel to America’s original gateway to the West.”
